This began as another reference to Tanya and water (cf. Tanya's figurescape); together we worked on incorporating figure and landscape, we substituted figure for a stream on Exmoor: a force of the water squeezed between rocks like a body forced into a corset. But the idea became contrived and only partly worked so the painting slowly developed into a merging of body and land. That Tanya appears to be reaching into the water for me is quite intentional I'm afraid, and the title references The Stone Roses.
