This painting should be viewed alongside Designs exterior, A meeting of minds also in this gallery. Both done at the same time on cupboard doors salvaged from Dr Marley's old house in Padstow after the kitchen was, er, 'improved'. They are early examples of my interest in adaptive womanhood - inside / outside. This one was done after an intimate photograph of a film director's wife whose name I'm ashamed to say I forget - I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW, IF ANYONE RECOGNISES HER PLEASE GET IN TOUCH.
NB. I would prefer for these two paintings to remain together and so would look favourable on arranging pricing to encourage that.
An associated work is Contemplation of the result in the Portraits gallery; this is the full-length painting mentioned there.
