And the Blackbird sang on

And the Blackbird sang on
When other birds took breath
About the courts of morning
You’d have to be deaf
When virus stopped the cars
With its attendant death

For the open ear to hear
Across the countryside
A new brazening sound
Not helped by biocide
As birds reclaim their stage
And sweeten ecocide

Covid-nineteen might bring
For all its agony
A smack of consciousness
And make the heedful see
Or rather hear
Birds bees even unto the tree
